Peugeot 308 GTi Technology
Dynamic Engine Performance
The four cylinder 1.6L THP Stop & Start petrol engine has been engineered to provide a dynamic, sporty performance while also being highly efficient. The 200 kW of power and 330 Nm of torque have been perfectly dosed for seamless performance and the state of the art moving parts include forged aluminium pistons, segmentation and reinforced connecting rods, connecting rod bearings with polymer projection, reinforced connecting rod screws.
The six-gear manual gearbox of the Peugeot 308 GTi has been engineered to be able to withstand the torque produced by the vehicle which can reach an impressive 330 Nm. With the reinforced construction consisting of shot blasted shafts and pinions which have been hardened with deep carbonitriding, wear and tear is reduced for long lasting performance. For a sportier performance, the shortened shaft of the gearbox allows for increased acceleration.
High Endurance Brakes
The Peugeot 308 GTi has been developed by Peugeot Sport for a high level of endurance and the braking system is no exception. The 380mm front brakes are ventilated to ensure proper cooling and have been fitted on an aluminium bowl. The high quality four-piston callipers keep the font brakes firmly in place. The rear brakes are 268 mm in diameter and the braking system offers responsive and precise performance.
The vertical suspension at the front of the Peugeot 308 GTi has been developed with specialised spring stiffness, calibrated shock absorber with a hydraulic damping stop to limit noise, and a stiffened and extended progressive bump stop which begins working as soon as compression starts when it’s only driver in the vehicle. When it comes to the rear axle, the cross-beam and filters have been stiffened, increasing 30 to 500 daN/mm along the lateral axis and from 170 to 490 daN/mm along the vertical. The design also includes a more pliable anti-roll bar.
Torsen® Limited-slip Differential
Available exclusively with the Peugeot GTi 270, the Torsen® limited-slip differential has been designed to direct torque to whichever wheel has the most grip for more accurate cornering. This system has been integrated into the gearbox and allows easier acceleration after a bend. Together with the compact steering wheel, this technology offers you responsive and dynamic cornering.
With the Peugeot 308 GTi, you can expect optimal road grip thanks to wide tracks (1570 mm at the front and 1554 mm in the rear) and Michelin Pilot Super Sport 235/35 R19 tyres. The high performance tyres are long lasting due to the refined pseudo-McPherson front axle. To deliver balance with the design, the Peugeot engineering team have also included a lightweight deformable torsion-beam rear axle.
